Christian Aid

Christian Aid is a UK and Ireland based charity that funds projects in some of the world's poorest countries. We currently work in 60 countries, wherever need is greatest, irrespective of race or religion. We work with local organisations (partners), as they are best placed to understand local needs. We also campaign to tackle the root causes of poverty. We expose the role played by global structures that cause poverty, and offer people ways to get involved in changing these.

We are part of the Make Poverty History Coalition. Christian Aid in Ilkley involves all 8 churches. We raise funds by the door to door collection in Christian Aid Week in May (last year we raised over £8,000) and by a coffee morning in March. During One World Week in October we usually hold an event to raise awareness, and we support the Ilkley Fairtrade town group. Christian Aid's motto is "We believe in Life before Death"
